STM Slipper install question

Postby deftone » Wed Aug 07, 2019 3:31 pm

I am looking at installing a STM Slipper into an 07 990SD. It appears previous owner or shop put one thicker steel plate in the pack. The first (outer) steel plate measures 2.2mm and the rest are 1.92mm. The frictions are within spec and look good. But the STM requires a a 50.4-50.8mm pack and I am at 51.15mm. I suspect that thicker plate is making my pack too big. From what I have read on here that measurement is pretty critical for proper functioning.

I have a trackday this weekend and local dealers do not have an OEM steel in stock. I can get Barnett in a day but they advertise 2mm thickness so not sure if that will help me. Anyone have experience with slightly thicker pack? Or how critical is that extra .3mm thickness?
